In the previous post the topic was focused on niche marketing and the tremendous amount of money that’s on the table right now. This time we’re going to talk about the rabid and rapidly growing ‘make money online’ niche.

At last count there were 202,000,000 websites competing for the term ‘make money online’ with 16,400,000 optimized and 665,000 allintitle. Do you know what all that means?

There’s a lot of money floating around out there and all you’ve got do is find a way to get in the middle of it all. You don’t even have to be on the first page of Google to get a piece of that pie (although, it certainly doesn’t hurt).

You just need to be in the game.

Whether you are an affiliate marketer or internet marketer in general, all you need to do is identify pockets of profitability within this market and target your efforts accordingly.

The hottest part of the make money online market centers around the affiliates themselves. Here’s the scenario in case you haven’t “smelled what the Rock is cookin”.

The vast majority of affiliate marketers today represent the miners who came to California during the gold rush. The marketers who are turning a ridiculous profit are the ones who are selling the shovels for the affiliates to use to mine the gold, when they themselves in fact, are the gold.

So what does this mean for you? You’ve got to start selling shovels, my friend and let the miners do the work for you.

No doubt about it, there is a ton of money out there on the web just looking for someone to claim it. An effective affiliate marketing strategy for getting your hands on it is to get involved with various sub markets and provide products and services for them. Niche marketing.

What do you have to do?

Well first and foremost you have to identify pockets of profitability hidden within larger markets. For instance weight loss is a huge  market with giant corporations dumping tons of money into adwords to keep themselves firmly tattooed on your brain. How can you compete with that?

You can’t, but the good news is… you don’t have to.

The term “weight loss” in and of itself is too broad and to waste your time and effort in trying to get traffic for it is insane. What you want to do is look further or drill down into that market to find a specific demographic of people with a problem you can provide a solution to.

A great place to conduct your research would be to visit forums. Go to google and type in “weight loss” forums and you will get specific search results for all the forums in the weight loss market.

From there you can start searching through the various questions that people are asking concerning weight loss and look for a recurring theme.

As I am writing this there are three predominant niches that jump out right now.

1) How to quit smoking without gaining weight

2) Weight loss after pregnancy

3) Permanent weight loss

By drilling down into various markets you will find vast pockets of profitability that you can tap into and generate incredible wealth for yourself.

Note* Take those keywords and do an allintitle: search on google, you might be able to make some money. [allintitle: permanent weight loss]

As you set about on your quest to gain a level of market share in the big bad world of affiliate marketing there are 3 tools you must have if you want to enjoy affiliate marketing success.

Tool #1 You gotta have your own website. This doesn’t mean you can’t start out with a blog, but eventually you are going to need your virtual real estate that you can use to brand yourself with.

As blogging continues to dominate the internet, having a wordpress blog hosted on your own domain is the best way to go. Having your own hosting allows you to avoid any mishaps that could come from a blog hosted on a platform you have no control over.

It would really be a shame to lose revenue due to a server issue that was out of your control. In addition to paying for your own hosting, wordpress blogs are incredibly search engine friendly. Attracting traffic to these particular blogs starts the minute you add content. Of course there is more involved when it comes to search engine optimization, but just get a wordpress blog.

Tool #2 Incentives play a major role in influencing the decision making process of your prospects. Many of the top affiliate marketers provide relevant high quality incentives to increase the percentage of sales for any particular offer. The profits generated as a result of offering incentives can be hefty especially if the offer alone is a high converting one.

Tool #3 Inbound links from high page rank sites is a must if you want to achieve high visibility in the search engines. Now here’s the thing, you can achieve high visibility quickly if you have links coming from several authority sites in your niche, but the fact is that over time the bulk of your visitors are going to come from the search engines. So put together an aggressive linking campaign from the beginning and as your site ages, it’s relevance will increase in the search engines.

So there you are 3 tools for affiliate marketing success, a website for branding purposes, incentives for increased sales and profits, and links for search engine visibility and lots of traffic.

If you want to increase your authority and your income as an affiliate marketer, one question you’ve got to ask yourself is: “how much effort am i willing to put in to achieve my desired level of success?” Affiliate marketing success can and will happen for you if you’re willing to do what is necessary to succeed.

One of the reasons some affiliates make more money than others is because of their ability to take action on their desire. When you look at the various blogs and websites that are popping up all over the web, what makes one stand out to you more than another? It is those very same elements that keep you glued to the screen that you need to employ in your business.

By developing quality content relevant to the needs of your audience you will be able to increase your credibility and authority in the eyes of your readers and that’s the first tip.

Tip #1 Deliver valuable content to your readers as best you can. The more valuable your content is to your audience, the better their perception of you will be. Does this happen over night? The obvious answer is no, but it can happen relatively quickly if you make a decision to hold to a higher standard of excellence.

Tip #2 Don’t be afraid to give away good content. You don’t necessarily have to give away all of your secrets, but you can give enough away to give your readers a reason to want to come back. If you always deliver solid valuable content, your readers will be looking forward to your next post.

Tip #3 Don’t try to sell everything on your blog or website. Start out giving as much content as you can to develop a relationship with your audience. Let them get the feeling that you are more interested in providing useful information that can truly help them to succeed. Having a giving mentality will get you far more than you could’ve ever expected in the long run.

Tip #4 Build a list and provide a newsletter with tips, ebooks and product recommendations relevant to your readers needs. Make sure to buy the products you are recommending so that you can enthusiastically promote them. Make videos showing how to use the product and email them to your list.

Offer your time if necessary to help anyone having difficulty with the set up and implementation of the product. Often times it’s not as time consuming as it may sound, but the relationship you’ll develop with your subscribers will translate it long term profits for you.

Tip #5 Maintain good communication with your subscribers utilizing the 80/20 rule. 8o% of your communication should be with good quality content and 20% should consist of promotions. It almost sounds like you’ll be taking a hit in the wallet, but the reality is your affiliate marketing success is relative to the authority you have in the market place.

If you continually work at creating enough value for who you are and what your willing to do, then the law of reciprocation will come into effect and the rewards will be massive.

Here’s an easy way to boost your profits by 20% or more!
(and it takes less than an hour to set up)

It works for resellers…it works for product owners…
and it even works for affiliates!

Here’s the story:

Last week I sold “The $5 Twitter Trick” (it sold out,
but you can still get it for $7)

I also sold the resell rights as an upsell (or choice)
directly on the sales page.

Before you continue reading, note that customers who
buy the product for educational purposes are usually
a different target group than customers who buy the
rights to the product to resell it.

What I learned from Dan Kennedy is this:

If you add a related product at 60% of the price of the
original product, 20% of your customers will buy the
upsell.

I’ll tell you how this works on affiliate products in
a minute. But let me finish the story first…

The offer was 100 copies of “The Twitter Trick” for $5
and resell rights for $15 (then the price goes up).

If I could get an extra 20% profit for an hours work,
that would equal $400 an hour for my time (and that’s
exactly what happened).

Here’s what I did:

First, I found a PLR video product called “Twitter for
Internet Marketers over at www.ResellRightsExpress.com

Then I created two upsell pages – one for my regular
customers and one for resellers.

The headline read, “Thank You For Your Purchase! Would
You Like to Add These Twitter Videos to Your Order?”

The reseller upsell page said, “Would You Like Resell
Rights to These Twitter Videos?”

Then there is a very short sales letter (like one page)
and a big “Add To Cart” button.

Below that was a link to continue to the download page.

Realize there is no pressure to buy. Just an offer like
they do at Amazon, “People who bought that book also
bought…”

Now I priced the videos at $3.50 and the rights at $10
(60% of the original offer).

A little over 20% took the upsell, which added an extra
$430 to my pocket for about an hour of work!

Not be eh?

Let’s talk about how you can do this as an affiliate…

If you’ve read module 2 of Affiliate Cash Secrets, then
you should be familiar with this method:

Step 1: Create a related bonus to give to customers who
purchase through your affiliate link.

Step 2: Set up a registration page with an optin form
that verifies a transaction ID with simple JavaScript.

Step 3: Deliver the bonus via autoresponder and you
get a customer lead.

Here’s where the upsell comes in…

Let’s say, for example, you’re promoting Rob Benwell’s
Blogging product over at:

=> bloggingtothebank.com

Inside that ebook, there is a recommendation for a
software product that lets you manage hundreds of blogs.

And of course, it has an affiliate program that pays
you commission.

Now if you could write a short report that reveals a
“Secret Software That Saves You Time and Boosts Your
Blog Profits by 300%”

And you added your affiliate link to the report…

And you promoted the software on your download page…

Then that, my friend, is an affiliate upsell.

That example was just off the top of my head and it may
not follow Dan Kennedy’s 60/20 rule because the software
is more expensive than the ebook.

So here are a few more examples for resellers or affiliates:

1. Sell an ebook on web design and upsell a graphics package
for 60% of the ebook price.

2. Sell an ebook on blogging and upsell blog templates

3. Sell a any video product and upsell the transcripts
or audio version.

As long as the upsell is directly related to and compliments
the original offer, then you should be able to add an extra
20% profit to your bottom line.
