Getting started with the affiliate marketing business can be an exciting affair. However it’s not all gum drops and cotton candy. Starting a business online doesn’t differ much from starting one offline.

Here are a few things you’ll need to consider to get going in the right direction.

1. Decide what you would like to do. You can sell other peoples products for a healthy commission or create and sell your own products. Creating and selling your own products can be extremely lucrative, but if you’re just getting started, selling other people’s stuff is a great way to get acquainted with marketing online.

2. To kickstart your affiliate marketing business it’s a good idea to determine what type of marketing you want to do. Paid advertising, like PPC, Ezine Ads or Article marketing, blogging, etc.

3. Research who your market is. Are you marketing to retirees? veterans? woman? teenagers? men? Will your product benefit local businesses or can it be accessed globally?

4. What kind of time are you able to invest in building your business given your present circumstances?

5. What’s your motivation for starting your own business and what will keep you going, when the going gets tough?

These are just some basic things you need to consider when starting your online business, because you won’t get rich tomorrow just because you have a website on the internet.

Getting the answers to the above stated questions can really set the stage and foundation for an incredibly profitable affiliate marketing business online.

Why Marketing Your Business Online Should Not Be A Hit Or Miss Activity

Marketing your business online requires coming up with a strategic plan for profitable results. When it comes to marketing online versus offline there are many similarities, so understanding basic marketing principles can go a long way towards increasing your businesses exposure.

Many of the top copywriters for the internet employ many of the same techniques that are used in direct marketing offline. When designing your website for mass exposure, it is important to make sure that the content is focused strictly on the market you’re targeting.

While it is important to provide solid information for your audience, the question you have to answer is: “what is the purpose of my website?” Do you want to create a portal for information seekers or do you want to sell solutions to the problems of a specific market.

The difference between these two types of sites is massive. When it comes to buyer psychology it’s important to remember that a confused mind… does nothing. So if your objective is to sell products to a specific market, but your website is targeting more than one market, than the conversion rate of visitors to buyers will be very very low.

However, note the contrast and vastly different results a tightly targeted and content specific website yields. Take as an example any number of one page websites that sell a particular solution, conversion rates of visitors to buyers immediately increases and often with far less traffic.

There is a stark difference in profitability between these two kinds of sites. A simple example would be to consider this. Website A makes 1 sale for every 100 visitors a day and website B makes 5 sales for every 10 visitors a day. Site A is getting far more traffic and less sales and site B is getting far less traffic and more sales. Which would you rather have?

So when it comes to marketing your business online it’s important to draw up a strategy that will allow you to effectively maximize the amount of traffic coming to your site. Your time is money, so it is of utmost importance that you get the best return on investment for your marketing efforts.

A major factor to increasing your affiliate conversions has to do with keywords. Using the right keywords related to your affiliate offers will significanty increase your affiliate revenue.

For the vast majority of marketers online struggling to make affiliate sales, the problem is keyword related. There is a huge difference between wanting to make money online and learning how to make money marketing online.

The variety of make money online products listed in Clickbank are related to teaching affiliates how to make money marketing online. Affiliates are well aware of the many avenues that exist for making money online, the problem is they don’t know how to effectively market the products.

A quick illustration of an up and coming athlete will hopefully give you an idea of what we’re discussing. An up and coming athlete has all the skills needed to excel in whatever sport they are in, but having those skills alone will not make them any real money.

Knowing how to market those skills, is where the real money is. What are the positive characteristics that can be exploited to generate revenue? How will associating yourself with this person enhance your life?

Those are just a couple of quick questions you can begin to build a marketing campaign around. Most affiliate marketers have knowledge with regards the basic setup process. Marketing skills are another story and the main reason some affiliates never make a dime.

So if you’re in the internet marketing or affiliate marketing niche, it’s important to realize that there are various sub niches within these markets and each comes with their own set of keywords. With the right keywords and the right product to go with them, you can literally explode your affiliate income over night.

Make sure to do extensive target market research, do not skip this part. If you are someone who buys many affiliate products, then examine your habits. What words or phrases make you want to buy when you see them? What kind of mental pictures do you get?

You’re own buying behavior may be the link to the goldmine you’re digging in.

The #1 Reason Why People Won’t Buy From You…

I’m going to tell you the #1 reason why people won’t buy from you and you probably may scoff at this but that’s even more reason why you need to listen up. Ready? The #1 reason why people won’t buy from you is because…

You ain’t selling anything to ‘em.

Now you’re probably wondering what the heck that’s about, so let me tell you. It’s about wondering why nobody’s clicking on the links on your blog. Why nobody’s clicking on the links in your email. It’s because you ain’t selling anything. What do they have to click on?

So what if you do have some links up and nobody’s clicking? That’s a good indication that you might need to find out what you’re markets’ interests are. Once you know what they want to buy than you can go ahead and sell it to them. Now before you go getting all jacked up over this, hold on a second…

You’ve heard all the talk about building relationships with your list and readers and so and so on. Good stuff, makes sense… however…

When was the last time someone at Burger King greeted you at the door and handed you a freebie to get you to buy a meal? When was the last time you went into any major franchise and got the royal treatment? Why did you go to the store in the first place? Wasn’t it to buy something?

The reason why you go to a particular store to begin with is because you know they’ll have that specific thing as well as related items that you’re looking to buy.

So what this means is that you need to find out what market is looking for what you have to offer or vice versa and become the retailer that sells it to them. The fact of the matter is this… if they don’t buy it from you, they’ll buy it from someone else. And that doesn’t make you any money.

No money, no business. One last point and we’re done. If you want to build real relationships with your email subscribers and blog readers, tell the truth.

What is the truth? The truth is you’ve started building a list to make money, you’ve started a blog to make money and neither will be successful if you beat around the bush about it. At least your subscribers and readers will know up front that you’re not trying to pull some hypnotic selling tactics on them.

Be up front and that will build the trust your looking for. If you want to know what they want to buy… ask them.

Here’s something to remember… “Nothing happens, until somebody sells something”.

Well that’s my diatribe for the day.

To your marketing success,

Nando

P.S. You don’t have to bomb your list with offers ten times a day, but if you don’t make any, than where’s the value of being on the list?

Google Domination: What You Should Be Paying Attention To…

Getting on the first page of Google for your targeted search term can be an exhilarating experience. When you look at all those competing sites in the search results battling for the coveted #1 spot on the first page of Google and you see your site there you feel like the king of the world.

But are you?

One giant mistake a lot of marketers make is focusing all their time and attention on getting their site ranked on that illustrious first page of Google. Why is that a mistake? It’s a mistake in the sense that all the traffic that search term may produce, might not be buying traffic.

Who cares if a search term gets a million searches a day, if none of that traffic buys from you? It’s like sitting in the middle of Times Square (New York) with your doors wide open for business and nobody walks in to buy something.

What you should be paying attention to are the keywords that result in paying customers. There are some keywords that get shoddy traffic, but due to the nature of what those people are looking for, everyone of them may be cash in hand customers.

There are some markets where it pays more to be buried in the search results, than to be on the first page, due to the nature and buying habits of the customer. So instead of sinking all your time and energy into getting top rankings for high traffic keywords, focus your efforts on getting traffic that results in a steady stream of sales and profits.

After all the customers don’t care if you’re on the first page of Google or not and you won’t care either if you ain’t making any money.

The Secret To Making Money Online Is…

Making money online can seem ridiculously hard and no matter what forum you go to there is always a group of frustrated newbies that are just pulling their hair out trying to make it work.

I know, I used to be right in that crowd until I figured out the secret.

Sounds mysterious doesn’t it? Well truth be told, it’s more of an oxymoron than a secret. So what’s this big secret?

The secret to making money online is not to ask for it. ???

I can just hear you scratching your head and thinking what in the world is he talking about? After all if you look around my blog it’s so monetized that CPA networks reject me. LOL

So let’s talk about this for a second. Some of the biggest names in the internet marketing industry give away some of their best content and software and yet they steadily clean up in what’s supposed to be a crowded market. How is that possible?

The mystery sauce that makes it all happen is value. To be more specific, it’s about providing value up front. What do I mean by that? Simply put, if you can provide enough value up front to your audience, when an offer is presented there is less resistance.

The shift goes from trying to make a sale to making a recommendation that enhances the value that was given away up front. All too often, myself included before I understood this it was all about trying to make a sale, without taking into consideration the needs of my audience.

If you haven’t made any sales or are finding it difficult to get the ball rolling, ask yourself: “What kind of value am I providing as an incentive for my audience to respond to my offers?”

I can tell you this much, once you make that paradigm shift, it gets a whole lot easier to make money online. To do this is a lot easier than you think, simply put yourself in your prospects shoes. How?

When you are looking to buy a product online, do you just buy from the first website you come across? In all likelihood the answer is no.

You want to know as much as you can about the product as it relates to your needs and what it will do for you, and then you start looking for the bonus. You want to get the most bang for your buck. True? I know, I do the same thing. So take a close look at the value you are providing to your audience up front and see how you can improve on that, cause the truth is, you can always improve on that.

Can i be totally transparent with you for a second? As you may have noticed there are lots of links and banners around this site that may give off the impression of asking for money, but the big picture is this…

If I can provide enough quality content up front that can help you build your business in some way, than you may be moved to reciprocate by taking advantage of the offers that I’m presenting to you. Simple. Nothing fancy.

Here’s the other part of the equation. If you don’t take advantage of the offers, I realize that it’s nothing personal and that maybe I need to…

a) provide more or better value

b) provide more relevant offers

c) both

In the very near future I will be setting up bonus packages that you will be able to choose from, should you decide to take advantage of the affiliate offers that I’m presenting to you. In addition to this, I will also be setting up more freebie packages that you may want to take advantage of, however those freebie offers will be available to email subscribers only.

So to wrap this up, look around you and pay close attention to the way the big guns in the industry market and reverse engineer the process so that you can apply it to your business for long term success.

To Your Future Success,

Nando
