I used to do this with free ebooks, there was a really good guide going around about 2 years ago which allowed you to have your affiliate link within it. I stuck a link to it on my blog and I made about 8 sales @ 48.00 each.
It was an Adsense guide and the product which gave the commission was an Adsense website builder.
