Affiliate Marketing Business: Dealing With and Overcoming Frustration

The affiliate marketing business is a great business to get into, but everyone gets into a rut sometimes. Have you ever had those days when you just don’t feel like it? Frustration is usually the cause of that, outside of laziness ( which we’re all entitled to once in awhile).

The dictionary defines frustration as:

a deep chronic sense or state of insecurity and dissatisfaction arising from unresolved problems or unfulfilled needs

There are two major factors that cause frustration for many marketers online and this definition hits on both of them.

The first factor is not working hard enough. There is nothing more irritating than the uneasy feeling of unresolved work yet to be done. It just sits in the back of your mind nagging your conscience to get it done.

If you’ve chosen to drive traffic by creating content, writing articles, etc. The more you don’t get down to handling your affiliate marketing business, the more frustrated you’ll become because you’re not making any money.

The second factor is working too hard. If you find yourself spending 10-12 hrs. a day everyday sitting at your computer, than you are more than likely burning out and don’t even know it yet. Do you find yourself dreading what you have to do to make money online?

Are you constantly feeling like you’re spinning your wheels without going anywhere? Turn off the computer, get up and walk away. Go live life for awhile. Give your mind a break. Give yourself a chance to recharge your batteries mentally, physically and emotionally.

It’s at these times when you give yourself a chance to breathe and focus on something else other than your affiliate marketing business that you usually encounter moments of clarity and everything starts to come together.

So in review, resolve to take action and put what you know to use. Make a schedule or write out a simple to do list to help you move closer to your goal of financial independence.

If your spending hour after hour in front of the computer, take a break. Keep yourself fresh and fresh new ideas and the energy to pursue them will come.

How To Beat Information Overload In 3 Steps

Aargh! The frustration of having a million thoughts go off in your head and not knowing which one to tackle first. All these thoughts are swirling around in your head raising your blood pressure and causing anxiety because… you have INFORMATION OVERLOAD.

You know what makes the situation even worse? Not taking any action. This causes your anxiety level to build up to a point that makes you want to give up because you feel overwhelmed. Have I hit on any hot buttons yet? So what can you do to alleviate the pain and the stress?

I’ve outlined 3 simple steps you can take to regain your sanity and start feeling hopeful instead of hopeless.

1) Focus – In order to get your mind and emotions under control, you’ve got to stop for a moment. Try to prioritize what’s most important right now. If there were only one thing you could do right now to move your business forward what would it be? Whatever you’re answer is… do that.

2) Get everything else off of your desk. Turn off your computer if you have to. Get away from your email. Each of these could all be a step in themselves, but they all contribute equally to the problem. If you’ve got a million things around you, it’s like they’re all calling out to you at the same time like a room full of small children looking for attention. I don’t know about you, but that really stresses me out.

3) Take Action. Do Something, doggonit! The one thing that you felt could help your business grow is the one thing you need to be doing. The power in taking action is the sense of accomplishment that follows and this can spur you on to further action. The key is to take focused action-oriented steps. By doing this, the other distractions that caused you to feel anxious and overwhelmed will fade away allowing you to feel refreshed and re-energized enough to keep going.

Warning: Each day is sufficient for it’s own anxieties, meaning that tomorrow you will have to exercise these same steps all over again in order to fight off the frustration of Information Overload. With consistent focused effort and taking one day at a time, the success that may have eluded you up to this point will materialize right before your very eyes.

Cheering for you,

Nando

P.S. Been there, done that. Still have to fight it sometimes.

How Do You Stay Motivated As An Affiliate Marketer?

December 3, 2008 in Personal Thoughts | Comments (0)

Staying motivated as an affiliate marketer is definitely not easy, especially when you’re new and you have yet to make your first commission. What do you do to keep the fires burning?

It’s been said that the clickbank screenshots can take the enthusiasm out of someone before they get started. Is this the case for you? What goes through your mind when you look at those pictures of massive clickbank paydays?

For the most part it motivates me and at the same time it’s a little frustrating as well, cause you know you’re gonna get there, but you can’t exactly put your finger on when.

What do you do to overcome the feelings of frustration? What keeps you in the game?

For me it’s my family, especially my 3 year old grandson. Every time I feel like slacking off or throwing in the towel, he gets the fire in my belly blazing. My wife and I are due for a vacation, because it’s definitely been a little while and she needs a break. She needs a break from me and my nonstop marketing (pun intended) and everything else in general. Then of course there’s the job. That lovely job that I can’t wait to get to everyday, that makes me toss and turn with anticipation for the coming day. NOT.

Those things won’t change unless I continue to forge ahead and poke my finger through the cycle of broke thinking that permeates the atmosphere like thick smoke from a 5 alarm fire. What keeps you going?

Looking for insight and inspiration,

Nando
