Affiliate Marketing Success Is Not About Becoming A Salesman

If you look around the web you’ll see all kinds of articles that give a definition for affiliate marketing success and to a certain extent that should be expected but…

If I had to boil it down to one specific skill that would make or break your ability to make good money with affiliate marketing it would have to be…

Preselling.

Knowing how to presell your visitors to an appropriate offer is the hinge upon which the door of profitability swings. You can develop a real nice looking site and get all the traffic in the world, but if none of the visitors who come to your pretty site buy anything than all that work you just put in to get that traffic is wasted.

The art of preselling is interesting because it’s a combination of selling without making a sales pitch. If you try to hardsell your visitors on your products, they won’t bite, but at the same time if you never sell to your visitors they’ll get snippety at the first sign of a pitch. It’s like being in a rock and a hard place.

So what can you do? Learn the art of the presell. A skilled affiliate marketer doesn’t try to bop you upside the head with an offer. The best way to go about developing your ability to presell is to become a customer in your own niche.

If you take some time to walk in your prospects shoes you’ll have a better understanding of what his/her needs are and how to approach them.

Want To Know How To Generate A Relentless Flow Of Traffic To Your Site?

You wanna get a truck load of traffic to your site? Of course you do. The real question is are you ready to do what it takes to get that traffic? When it comes to getting traffic to your site it’s more about tenacity and routine than techniques. Let me explain what I’m talking about.

If you’ve been online for at least 30-60 days, you know you have to get traffic to your site if you want to sell anything, but knowing that you need it and getting it, are two totally different things. One of the main reasons most people flunk out of internet marketing is because they lack the tenacity and focus it takes to get any one technique to work.

Now you’re probably thinking that I’m going to tell you  to write a million articles or surf traffic exchanges til your blue in the face, well I’m not because the reality is that you need to be doing both of these things. However there are other methods for getting targeted quality traffic to your site, but what you have to understand is that you won’t get a million visitors by tomorrow.

You can grow your traffic relatively fast, but the key is to focus on whatever technique you choose to make that happen. Let’s pick article marketing and video marketing. Article marketing can allow you to create lots of backlinks fast to your site, but what if you don’t like writing articles? Get someone else to do it. You can pay a freelance writer at Elance.com or search for good writers in the Warrior Forum.

You can also use articles from article directories as long as you keep the credits in tact  when you post them on your site. If you have articles already written you can repurpose them as video content. Another thing you can do is bookmark your articles on as many bookmarking sites as you can. More backlinks, means more opportunities for visitors already interested in your topic to click over to your site.

You can use private label content. There are a lot of private label articles out there and you can rewrite them so that you can make them unique and post them on your blog and create a slightly reworked version for the article directories. You can even use them as content for web 2.0 sites with links pointing back to your blog or website.

When you post the content to your blog and to the web 2.o sites that point back to it, make sure to social bookmark the blogs as well as the individual posts on them. So far I’ve only talked about content marketing using articles and with these ideas alone you can drive ridiculous traffic back to your site, but you’ve got to set up a routine and stick to it.

As great as some strategies may sound it’s impossible to make them all work at the same time. The key is to pick a strategy and work with it consistently enough for it to work.

In closing it’s important to really work hard at it in the beginning in order to turbo charge your traffic getting efforts. Don’t just write one article and bookmark it to a couple of sites and expect traffic to come pouring in. It doesn’t work like that and if that’s how you plan to do it, then don’t expect much if anything at all.

Internet marketing works. Affiliate marketing works, but it takes hard work and perseverance to make it work for you and if you’re willing to put in the elbow grease early on, the snowball effect of your efforts will begin to grow by itself over time. Also make sure to recycle your traffic by building a list and continuously redirecting your subscribers back to your site and you’ll soon generate a relentless flow of traffic to your site.

Preselling – The Super Affiliates Secret Weapon

July 9, 2009 in Articles, Email Marketing, affiliate marketing, making money online | Comments (1)

Tags: , , , , , ,

It’s almost like magic. A visitor comes to your site, reads the information, clicks through to the salesletter and buys the product. Some of the most successful affiliates have this process down to a science. The magic has to do with preselling.

What is preselling? Preselling is warming up your visitors to the idea of purchasing the product your offering by educating them about it. When done properly and effectively, the recommendation you’re proposing becomes more of a suggestion than a sales pitch.

What makes it so effective is that when properly applied the visitor or prospect comes to their own conclusion as to why they would need your product or service ON THEIR OWN.

Fact is, none of like to be sold to, but we all like to buy. So educating the prospect about said product or service is in effect selling without selling.

However there is another ingredient that when combined with educating your prospect can literally explode your income and that’s adding the element of…

Social proof or your own documented personal experience with the product.

By preselling your prospects to your offer, you are now in a position to effectively leverage the salescopy that the vendor hopefully spent good money to have created.

This secret weapon of the super affiliates is routinely utilized in webcopy, landing pages, email marketing and just about every other form of advertising designed to persuasively lead visitors to a sales letter and ultimately a buying decision.

You can find an excellent resource to see how it’s done here

Get More Traffic To Your Website By Doubling Your Efforts

Probably the toughest part of affiliate marketing is trying to get more traffic to your website. Once you’ve gone through the set up process, picked your niche and selected some products to promote, the largest part of the equation is getting traffic.

There are literally tons of ways to drive traffic to your website, but the key to successfully realizing torrents of targeted traffic is to consistently increase your efforts on a daily basis.

If you are writing articles you can try to increase your output by adding one more to your routine. If you’re running a ppc campaign, maybe you can add one more version of your ad or add a whole new one altogether. You could increase your ad spend by an extra .05 – .10 cents.

Maybe you can add one more social bookmarking site to your list. The point is that traffic when compounded can have a huge snowball effect. If you’ve ever experienced what a burst of traffic is like, you know that without maintaining the momentum you created to get that traffic, it dissipates just as quickly.

Are you familiar with the “penny principle”? It looks like this:

1) Start with one penny
2) Double that penny to $0.02
3) Double $0.02 to $0.04
4) $0.04 to $0.08
5) $0.08 to $0.16
6) $0.16 to $0.32
7) $0.32 to $0.64
8) $0.64 to $1.28
9) $1.28 to $2.56
10) $2.56 to $5
11) $5 to $10
12) $10 to $20
13) $20 to $40
14) $40 to $80
15) $80 to $160
16) $160 to $320
17) $320 to $640
18) $640 to $1,280
19) $1,280 to $2,560
20) $2,560 to $5,000
21) $5,000 to $10,000
22) $10,000 to $20,000
23) $20,000 to $40,000
24) $40,000 to $80,000
25) $80,000 to $160,000
26) $160,000 to $320,000
27) $320,000 to $640,000
28) $640,000 to $1,000,000

Now just for a moment imagine that those figures in the 25 – 28 day range represent the amount of visitors coming to your site on a monthly or yearly basis. What would your income look like then?

How Much Traffic Is A Lot Of Traffic?

March 3, 2009 in Articles, Traffic Generation | Comments (2)

Tags: , , , , ,

I get this question asked of me all the time. How much traffic is a lot
of traffic? Unfortunately, the term “a lot” is a very relative one. To a
site like Google, that probably gets millions of visitors a day, If they suddenly had a day where only 500,000 people went to their site, they’d
probably think they were going out of business.

On the other hand, if John Doe, who just started his business, got 500,000 visitors a day, his server would probably crash before it ever got anywhere near that point anyway. At the very least, his bandwidth would have been gone in a snap, assuming he had just a basic hosting account.

Calculate Traffic To Determine Sales?

Okay, so if a lot of traffic is a relative term, can we put a number on
the amount of traffic you want to get in order to make a certain
income each month? Well, unfortunately, we can’t do that either.
Why not? Well, because not all traffic is created equally.

Let’s for argument sake say that John Doe bought one of those
guaranteed traffic packages from one of those traffic houses. They sell
him 10,000 guaranteed visitors in 1 day for say $100. What kind of
results can he expect to get?

Two Kinds Of Traffic

Well, the one thing that most people don’t understand about traffic is
that there is targeted traffic and non targeted traffic. Targeted traffic
is traffic that is specifically looking for your product or service. Non
targeted traffic is traffic that can be looking for just about anything.

So John Doe’s 10,000 visitors may bring him a conversion of maybe a
tenth of one percent, or 10 sales at best. Now, if he spent $100, which
is really cheap for 10,000 visitors, and each sale made him only $20,
that’s a profit of only $100.

More Sales With Less Traffic?

Now, let’s take John Smith, who instead of spending $100 on
guaranteed traffic, takes his $100 and spends it on a $100 Adwords
campaign. He chooses a budget of $3 a day.

He gets 30 clicks for that $3 because he is only spending 10 cents a click. Plus, the people who are clicking on his Adwords ads are specifically looking for his product. So his conversion percentage is about 4%.

That means he makes about 4 sales for every 100 clicks. If he gets 30 clicks per day, that comes out to 900 clicks at the end of a 30 day month. If he gets 4 sales per 100 clicks, that means he will have 36 sales by the end of the
month on 900 clicks.

At the same $20 per sale, that comes out to an income of $720 and a profit of over $620 because at $3 per day, he only spent $90 at the end of the month.

As you can see, John Smith had much better results with much less
traffic. He only had 900 people go to his site, which is a lot less than
10,000 people. Yet, he made a lot more money than John Doe with
his 10,000 visitors.

If you were to actually try this same example, providing you could
even get 10,000 visitors for as little as $100 and actually even got a
conversion percentage of one tenth of one percent, you would see that
the results between the two were not even close.

So when people ask me how much traffic is a lot of traffic, I tell them
it depends on how much money you make from it.

To Your Success,

Nando
